Read Ratings on Horror Titles

A horror rating summarises audience evaluation, not how frightening, graphic or comfortable a film will be for you. Compare the score with the premise and available voting context, then use separate content guidance for subjects that affect your choice.

Read the score's job correctly

An audience score can help you notice a title or compare reactions. It cannot tell you whether viewers valued its atmosphere, performances or scares. Avoid converting the number or its colour into an intensity level that the rating was not designed to express.

Compare the same kind of evidence

Identify the displayed rating source and scale. Consider vote information when it is actually shown; do not invent a missing sample size. A community summary and your own selected rating are also different records, even if the numbers happen to agree.

Let personal preferences decide the final choice

Read the short premise and inspect the listed duration. If a specific theme is important, use an appropriate advisory for that production. A well-rated film can still be an unsuitable choice for your current mood, while a less highly scored work may match your interests.
